Valentine’s Day Workout

Valentines-DayValentine’s Day is here. What are your plans? Are you one to follow the tradition of flowers, chocolate, and dinner? Or are you one who thinks Valentine’s Day is one of those made up holidays that are annoying? I say we take Valentine’s Day and get rid of some of the sweets and spice it up a little. After all isn’t the day also about love? And what’s love without a little spice.

Instead of spending a ton of money on way overpriced flowers why don’t you grab your partner and work out together. There are a lot of exercises that you and your partner can do together either at home or at boot camp. Working out with a partner is a great way to spend quality time with each other; it’s a great way to bond with a partner and have some fun.

If you can get to boot camp before your evening plans that would be a great way to start your night and then you won’t have to feel so guilty about eating a delicious meal and a yummy dessert or chocolates afterwards.

But, just in case you can’t make it to boot camp together then how about doing a fast workout together at home before you get dazzled up to go out. You can do a fast 20 minute workout that will give you energy and make you feel great.

Ok, so let’s get started with your pre Valentine’s Day dinner workout. Remember, just like at boot camp, you want to perform the exercises with proper form and with as little rest as possible to burn the most calories.

Exercise #1

10 Pushups side by side with your partner then immediately do a side plank facing each other and hold for at least 45 seconds.

Rest for 15 seconds and then repeat 10 more push-ups and switch to the opposite side when doing the plank

Exercise #2

Jump Squat 10 times, standing side by side with your partner then

20 military style sit-ups (hold your partner’s ankles if necessary)

Rest 15 seconds

Exercise #3

10 Burpees, side by side

Rest 10 seconds

15 front lunges

Rest 15 seconds

When you and your partner have completed the above exercises take five minutes to do total body stretching. This will help strengthen and relax your muscles and provide more flexibility.

Now you guys are ready to go. It’s time to get ready and celebrate your Valentine’s Day in whatever fashion you have planned. You have had some fun (call it a little foreplay if you like) before your date. Your muscles are pumped and metabolism is working. You can enjoy a nice meal and even some dessert.

However, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to end on February 14th. You and your partner can work out together as much as you would like. Having a partner makes exercise more enjoyable and that is one of the reasons why our boot camps are so popular. Bring your partner with you so both of you receive the benefits of group exercise every time you work out. You will see that it’s like Valentine’s Day every day. Well, with the exception that we won’t suggest going out to dinner and eating chocolate!
