She’s ready to work and put’s in 100% effort every time. We love having her as a part of our Top Level Fitness family so we though you would enjoy getting to know her!

Meet Kristy!

My name is Kristy and I have lived most of my life in the Woodridge/Naperville area. I didn’t play sports in high school or college but was always active, worked out, played volleyball and was on the drill team. I went to Indiana University for my Master’s in Counseling Psychology. After many years in that field, I decided to take a break and follow my passion which is working with animals, dogs especially. I began working at a local humane society as their Adoption Manager and for 7 years I helped place hundreds of dogs and cats in loving forever homes. There is no better feeling than watching a dog or cat go from a horrible situation into the arms of a loving home! I currently work for a small vet clinic that specializes in chiropractic care, laser therapy and other alternative treatments for dogs. My husband and I love to travel. Last year we went wine tasting in Napa and skiing in Park City and this year we will hopefully be going to Nashville for the first time!

I came to TLF in October of 2015 after seeing many wonderful posts from my friend Trish Sniadecki. Just to back up a bit, my journey to be more fit started about 2 years ago when I realized I was about 20 pounds heavier than I had ever been in my life, and that I just didn’t feel good about myself anymore. I wasn’t really doing anything to be healthy and fit. So I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer, and I lost some weight and got stronger but it was missing something. All along I kept seeing all these Facebook posts from Trish and how she loved this gym she had joined, how much fun it was and how much stronger she felt. So I called TLF, spoke to Sean and signed up for a 28 day challenge…And I am so happy that I did!Kristy Moran 2

I was so nervous walking in to my first work out because I really wasn’t sure what to expect…but everyone from the trainers to my fellow members were so friendly and helpful. Simply put, they made me feel right at home. I think I had only been at TLF for a week when I decided this was the place I needed to stay! When other people comment on my progress and ask me where I’m working out I am more than thrilled to tell them about TLF. I tell them the reason I stayed was because I felt supported but challenged…not in your face challenged but the trainers push me to do more than I think I can at every workout and that was what I was missing! I have to admit all the nutritional education I have received has also made a big difference. Now I understand why I am eating, what I’m eating, and what it’s doing for me. My results have been amazing and I am stronger than I have ever been!

Here is a favorite recipe of mine:
Jamaican Jerk Chicken Kebabs with Smoked Turkey Sausage (4 servings)Jerk Chicken
For the Jerk Glaze:
¼ cup olive oil
Juice of 1 lime
2 Tbsp. minced fresh oregano
1 Tbsp. minced lime zest
1 Tbsp. onion powder
1 Tbsp light brown sugar
2 tsp. minced garlic
½ tsp. ground allspice
¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. cayenne pepper

For the kebabs:
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1 in squares
8 oz turkey kielbasa, cut into 1 in pieces
2-3 green bell peppers, cut into 1 in pieces

Preheat grill to medium-high. Brush grill rack with oil.
Combine oil, lime juice, oregano, lime zest, onion powder, brown sugar, garlic, allspice, cinnamon and cayenne pepper for the glaze in a bowl. Set aside half the glaze for serving with the kebabs.
Thread chicken, sausage and pepper slices onto skewers.
Grill kebabs covered until chicken is no longer pink, about 8 min. Turn the kebabs and brush with glaze every 2 min during grilling. Serve with the reserved glaze.
Per Serving: 308 calories, 13g total fat, 11g carbs, 36g protein
