When it comes to a healthy, sustainable diet plan, balance is the game! Harmonizing your diet plan will help you get all the necessary nutrients your body requires to function at its best and by having the right amount of these nutrients you’ll have more energy to exercise and enjoy your day, full of vitality.
Tip: Eat More Protein!
Most people do not eat enough protein. In fact by consuming more protein throughout the day you’ll see more muscular growth from your exercise efforts which is one of the reasons why so many diets have you actually eat a bit more when working out, because it helps you gain muscle mass.
A lot of the more popular fad diets recommend eliminating all fats, sugars and carbs from your diet. The fact of the matter is that your body actually needs a limited combination all of the above to function at its peak performance. Instead of starving yourself, eat a healthy, balanced diet and along with exercise you’ll soon be back to your fighting weight. Fad diets will cause you to lose weight but they aren’t healthy because they almost always lack the nutrients you need to be at your best. In essence you’re harming yourself on these kinds of diets which is the opposite result most of us want from a diet and workout plan. In addition, it’s impossible to gain any muscle mass on them either. Worst of all, once you go back to your normal eating habits you’ll end up packing any lost weight back on. So, what can you do to lose weight and follow a diet that you can maintain without losing out on the essentials your body requires?
Take a look in your kitchen and identify the high risk foods you eat frequently.
Remove them from your home. You can still get a candy bar at work but maybe get it twice a week, moderating the intake. Don’t eat a huge cake every weekend; instead reward yourself with a small cookie or some lower calorie treat. Oatmeal can be a dessert with some plump raisins and cinnamon (tastes like an oatmeal cookie!), or low fat yogurt with fresh berries mixed in. If you think out of the box when it comes to food, you’ll be pleasantly surprised how easy it is to satisfy your urge for sweets.
Don’t have your diet lean in the direction of one type of food.
For instance, have vegetables with your meat, heavy on the vegetables. Don’t just eat a meal of steak and starch for dinner! You need to make sure to get a bit of everything in there in order to lose weight sensibly. Top of your meal with some skim milk (avoid whole) or enjoy yogurt for dessert to help fit in a bit of dairy.
Check your condiments and seasonings!
You’d be appalled by the amount of sugar, salt and fat some of them contain! Try having that potato with a dab of low fat sour cream and without salt (try fresh herbs instead) and don’t load up on mayo and catchup; a little goes a long way. Other things to consider are trying are the sugar or semi-sugar sweeteners or natural options like Stevia.
Eat your food slowly!
Digestion will come easier and you’ll feel full faster too, which lowers your calorie intake. You’ll be able to lose weight easily and healthily by making a few small changes to your diet and moderating the things you like that might not be the best for you. Vitamins can also serve a purpose and help supplement the minerals and nutrients your body needs.
